| Overview |
| The 2008 Jaguar S-Type is a comfortable mid-size luxury sedan with a sleek feline profile that makes a statement. The S-Type combines a luxurious interior and cutting-edge technology to deliver a relaxed, refined ride. This premium midsize sedan gets a minor exterior facelift in its final model year and will shortly be replaced by the 2009 Jaguar XF in the Jaguar marque. |
| Powertrain and Performance |
| The S-Type comes in three trims with distinct engines: a 3.0-liter V-6 producing 235 horsepower; a 4.2-liter V-8 producing 300 horsepower; and a supercharged V-8 for the S-Type R delivering 400 horsepower. All three versions use a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. |
| Body and Styling |
Most of the changes for this year are in the exterior. Wheels for all trims are wider by one inch, resulting in 18-inch and 19-inch wheels. The S-Type R has the Jaguar's round signature badge for the grille, round tail lamps, and mesh inserts fitted in place of fog lamps. Standard xenon headlights with automatic self-leveling and a chrome mesh grille are notable additions.
Standard interior features include dual-zone climate control, an electrically adjustable steering column, rain-sensing wipers, and reverse park control. Bluetooth wireless technology, satellite navigation, and front park assist are among the optional features. |
| Safety Features |
Side-impact and side-curtain air bags, anti-lock brakes with emergency brake assist, and dynamic stability control are standard for the 2008 S-Type. Innovative safety features include Jaguar's adaptive restraint technology system and a new Conti-Teves foundation braking system, which Jaguar says reduces stopping distances and improves pedal feel.
