Overview
Following its overhaul in 2007, the 2008 Jaguar XK retains most of the features it introduced last year. New additions are the nearly ground-hugging reflexes on the new trim, the XKR, a high-performance convertible with a fabric roof. Other changes include four new soft-top colors.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2008 Jaguar XK is powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that produces nothing less than 300 horsepower. All that is needed to accelerate from zero to 60 mph is 5.9 seconds. The 2008 Jaguar XK comes with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Body and Styling
A design icon since 1948, the 2008 Jaguar XK gets smooth rounded contours and prominent tires and wheels. The car’s haunches are more accentuated and visible because of the striking bumper. Inside the XK, everything is roomier with better occupant headroom and legroom. A touch-screen controller and Bluetooth wireless technology for mobile phones are standard on all models. Also standard is the keyless push-button door unlocking and engine start, which comes as part of Jaguar's smart key system. Optional interior features include an Alpine Dolby Pro Logic II sound system and a Sirius satellite radio.
Safety Features
Four-channel, ventilated anti-lock brakes; brake assist to aid in emergency stops; a tire-pressure monitoring system; run-flat tires; and a dynamic head restraint system that protects occupants from whiplash injuries are some of the standard safety features. Optional features include active headlights, which swivel on their own depending on the angle at which the steering wheel turns and the speed at which the vehicle travels.
